New Release – The Cupcake Conundrum

They say good things come to those who wait and I have a very sweet treat for those of you who have been patiently waiting for my *ahem* Valentine’s Day book.

The Cupcake Conundrum Cover Final

After Hank Edwards and I finished our respective winter holiday stories set in the Williamsville Inn universe, he mentioned he had an idea for Carter, the best friend of the main character in his book Snowflakes and Song Lyrics. He wanted to write a Valentine’s Day book. I considered the idea of writing one but didn’t immediately have any ideas and I really didn’t have time to add it to my schedule. But then one day, it hit me.

I immediately sent a message to Hank: “Aww crap. I have an idea for a Valentine’s Day story.”
He responded with: “Yay! I mean, ahem, oh no!”
I said, “When Seth and Erik from Snowstorms and Second Chances move in together, Seth’s brother Adrian helps him move from NYC to Philly and he meets Seth’s roommate …”

Off I went with the story. Unfortunately, in January, we both stalled. Hank had things in his life he was dealing with, I had a weird case of writer’s block. While I love Seth’s roommate, Ajay Sunagar, he was a complicated character to write. His parents are from India and he had a complicated relationship with them and with his heritage. As Jay told Adrian in the story, “I straddled this weird line of being too brown and Indian for white people and too white and American for the Desi community.”

I wasn’t sure how to write that. I wanted to do justice to how complicated and multi-layered his relationship with his family and his culture was but I was afraid of messing it up. I think somewhere along the line, I psyched myself out of writing completely, afraid I’d screw it up completely. But connecting with a lovely reader from one of the M/M Facebook groups who pointed me in the direction of where to research and answer questions about what it’s like being Indian-American, I made some progress. I sent it off to Hank for some early feedback, which broke through the rest of the block.

I can’t promise I got every aspect of what it’s like to be a second-generation Indian-American gay man perfectly right, and every individual’s experience varies so widely, but I worked very hard to do my best by Jay. And I love him for all of his snarky, sexy sweetness. Adrian is a lovely character too, a single dad who messed up his first shot at a relationship with Jay and who has to make amends for what he did.

While I’m about three months past the Valentine’s Day released I’d hoped to have, I am very happy with the way The Cupcake Conundrum turned out. Getting Adrian and Jay where they needed to be was tough but in the end, I love how it all came together and I hope you’ll enjoy reading the book as much as I love it now!

The Cupcake Conundrum blurb:

What could be worse than having to spend a week with the man you ghosted?

When Adrian Cobb arrives in New York to help his brother move, he comes face to face with the biggest mistake of his past—a baking conference hookup he rudely ditched a year ago. Now, he’s sharing a guest room with Ajay Sunagar, who looks as tasty as the pastries he bakes, and Adrian desperately wants to prove he can handle the heat this time.

But Jay makes it clear he isn’t ready to forgive and forget Adrian’s bad behavior. None of Adrian’s repeated apologies seem to make a dent in the walls Jay’s put up and Adrian can’t tell if Jay would rather make him grovel or cover Adrian in frosting and lick him all over. Adrian’s afraid that this time, Jay will be the one to walk away—unless Adrian can find a way to make him believe in second chances.

The Cupcake Conundrum” is a sweet-treat story about a single dad, instant attraction, and falling in love all over again that takes place in the Williamsville Inn series world. It features characters from Brigham Vaughn’s Snowstorms and Second Chances, along with Snowflakes and Song Lyrics and The Cupid Crawl by Hank Edwards.

Excerpt from The Cupcake Conundrum:

“Jay?” Adrian said hoarsely.

“Adrian.” The blood had drained from Jay’s face, making his normally rich brown skin tone look almost chalky. But he looked every bit as handsome as he had when Adrian had first seen him a little over a year ago.

“Wait, you two know each other?” Seth’s voice snapped Adrian out of the daze he’d been immersed in.

“Yeah, you could say that,” Jay said. His jaw was clenched and he’d gone completely stone-faced. The warm brown eyes Adrian had loved looking into as Jay fucked him sent an icy shiver down his back now. Double shit.

“What? How?” Seth asked.

“The baking expo!” Adrian blurted out. Seth blinked at his loud tone, and Adrian winced, then cleared his throat. “You remember that international baking expo I went to last year?”

“Here in New York? Yeah. I was mad because you said you were going to visit me while you were here but you punked out on me.”

Adrian had punked out on him because he’d been in bed with Jay. He just hadn’t mentioned that part to his brother. He’d never mentioned Jay at all until today.

“Yeah, you’ll apparently never let me forget it either.”

“Nope. But so … what does that have to do with Jay?” Seth’s puzzled expression smoothed out. “Oh, you met there, huh? Well, that makes sense. Cool. What a small world!”

“Yeah, sure is,” Jay said with a scowl as he brushed past.

Braving the Deep End Excerpt:

Dear Madame Eve,

My name is Mike. I’m twenty-four years old, and I’m straight.

Well, I used to think so anyway.

Since I’m not the sort of guy who posts a random “needs advice” question on Reddit, I’m seeking your professional dating advice.

Life advice, actually.

There’s this girl—isn’t that how all stories start? LOL

Ryleigh’s been one of my best friends since high school. A couple of months ago, we both found ourselves single, and I was depressed after witnessing something unspeakable. After talking late into the night over too many beers, we hooked up. It became a regular thing for a short while, but I ended it for various reasons.

First, I think we’re better off as friends.

Second, she was getting serious, and I don’t want a relationship with her.

I’ll get to the third and biggest reason in a moment.

When I told her sex had been a mistake, she didn’t take it well. We haven’t spoken since, and I fear our friendship is finished. I still don’t know how to process it.

Now for the real reason I cut off things with Ryleigh.

There’s also this guy—and that’s not the way my stories usually start.

The first time I saw him, he was swimming laps at my gym. The gym isn’t a pickup place for me. I work out, and I leave. However, I couldn’t help but notice this guy. I’ve been an avid swimmer most of my life, and I know a natural when I see one. He was effortless in the water.

Then he got out of the pool.

Suddenly, I was watching one of those high-end perfume commercials where the guy gets out of the Mediterranean and every drop of water travels the contours of his muscles in slow-mo.

Something happened to me—and no, I didn’t sprout a boner in the pool area. But the whole world seemed to freeze, and I couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think. I stared at him, though gaped is probably a more accurate description. My heart pounded so loud, I swore he would hear it. I was literally thunderstruck.

It was the purest, most intensely clear moment of my life.

I’ve heard about moments like that, read about them in books, but I’d never experienced one.

After he left the pool area, I swam about hundred laps in a failed attempt to forget the way he made my blood sing but only ended up being late to work.

Oh yeah, I’m a state trooper. I spend every day surrounded by law enforcement. Men’s men, if you will. Can you imagine how unwelcome these thoughts are while living in a world drenched in testosterone and inflated masculinity?

I didn’t want to think about another man sexually.

Yet, the next day, I found myself arriving earlier at the gym, hoping to see him before he got into the pool. Maybe walk in together, hear his voice, or learn his name.

It’s Beau, by the way.

And yes, when he told me, I grinned like a fool and said, “Cool name,” even as I thought, what a cool guy. I didn’t even know him yet! How lame is that?

Turns out, Beau gets to the gym ten minutes before it opens, and he’s always the first customer in the door. Guess who’s now the second?

I didn’t spy on him in the locker room, but I wanted to. Damn it all, I really wanted to. But he’s a big guy—much bigger than me—so I had to show some discretion. I did delay putting on my suit in order to walk to the pool at the same time though. When we met in the doorway, he’d flashed me a smile that made my stomach actually flutter, which has never happened before.

“We keep meeting like this,” he said with a sweet Southern twang.

I melted. I think he was flirting with me.

Anyway, we chatted about swimming. We both were on the swim team in high school and he swam competitively in college. Now we swim to stay in shape. Then we each took a lane in the pool. I wanted to time my laps to end with his, but it would’ve been too obvious, and I didn’t want to be late for work again. After my swim, I watched his beautiful form cut through the water, hoping he would notice I’d finished, maybe turn and smile at me again. He didn’t, of course, too intent on his perfect breast stroke.

I’ve seen him almost every day since. We’ve taken to racing each other in the pool. He’s a far better swimmer, but I’ve bested him a few times. I think we’re flirting. He touches my arm when he talks to me, leans close when I’m telling him something. When I mentioned the tattoo sleeving his arm—a forest scene of rich green that complements his hazel eyes—he let me get close and admire the details. He smells magnificent. Once, I was brave enough to quickly squeeze his biceps and say, “These can’t all be from swimming.” He laughed and playfully jabbed me in the stomach.

It felt amazing.

He’s never said if he’s gay or not, but I think he likes me. Maybe he’s waiting for me to make the first move. Maybe his friendliness is just Southern charm, and I’m reading into it all.

Our friendship progressed from chitchat to getting a drink at the juice bar after a swim. Then we swapped numbers, and now we’re texting. Nothing serious, just casual texts about TV shows we like. A few weeks ago, we started going out for breakfast.

Are these dates?

I have no idea.

I like Beau. A lot. He’s cool, and he’s fun. Seeing him or talking to him is the highlight of my day. We never run out of things to talk about. No awkward silences. But am I capable of being more than a friend?

Could I kiss another man?

Honestly, the thought of kissing him terrifies me to my core because what if I liked it? Would that mean I’m gay? Bisexual? Maybe sexuality is fluid and it’s just Beau who makes me feel this way.

I want to pursue my attraction to him, but then I remember how sex ruined a lifelong friendship with Ryleigh. His friendship has become very important to me, and I don’t want to mess it up. I mean, what if he kisses me and I don’t like it? I couldn’t live with myself if I hurt him in any way.

I don’t want to live with regrets. I want to be the kind of man who goes after what I want.

Yet, I can’t just allow Beau to be a sexual experiment.

He’s thirteen years older than me—which isn’t a big deal—but I assume he’s much more experienced in the bedroom than I am.

What if I’m a disappointment to him? Worse, what if I freak out when things get physical and change my mind? Or regret it all in the morning? What if I’m so awkward and inexperienced he laughs at me?

We’re both rather competitive men, and I don’t think I could face him ever again if any of those things happened.

I need to test the waters. First, to see if I’m even physically able to be intimate with a man—it’s one thing to imagine but another to act on it. And second, I’d like to know what I’m doing so I don’t embarrass myself. What if I’m no good at it?

I can’t use hookup apps or go to local gay bars because everyone knows my family in this town, which is much smaller than it appears. After all, what if this attraction is a phase and doesn’t stick? If I change my mind, I won’t be able to stop rumors, and that could make my life at work a living hell. And for what? One night of sexual experimentation?

Madame Eve, would you please set me up with a nice guy to help me? Let him read this letter so he understands I don’t want strings, and I don’t want anyone to get hurt. I just need to figure out who I am and what I want. If this works, then maybe things with Beau could develop into something more. I can’t risk losing his friendship to find out.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Sincerely,

Mike Martin

Known & Wanted Excerpt:

Unaccustomed to sitting at bar, Eli filled his time waiting for his date by contemplating is bizarre adventure gifted to him and, as the norm in his profession, making a study of those around him.

A woman in a corner booth caught his eye. She chatted on the phone, laughing with someone. Probably the man she came here to meet. He kept a covert eye on her, if only for his own curiosity and entertainment.

Her pixie-ish, hair style seemed to ooze melted dark chocolate, swirled with caramel and cherry. Even in the somewhat dim light of the bar, he could tell she wore little makeup. She doesn’t need it.

His training and experience taught him to observe everything, including little nuances which told him, despite her outward happiness, uncertainty and nerves had her on edge.

He looked into his beer, the mental self-flagellation he thought he’d tamped down and dismissed, winked at him from the remaining yeasty foam.

This arrangement seemed perfect for his circumstance, private, consensual, anonymous. He couldn’t go out on a Saturday night for a ‘hook up’ for a myriad of reasons. Due to the nature of his position, on-call meant 24/7/365 and his constituents frowned on drunken, carousing county leadership. And being an elected and sworn officer of the State, he honored the trust Birch County residents had given him and his oath to them and the State of Ohio. And, like his kids said, ‘Everyone knows you, Dad.’

“Excuse me.”

You’re slacking, Martin. You never saw her coming. The woman from the corner booth stood next to him at the bar.

“Sheriff Martin? What a surprise.”

“I’m sorry….” Don’t know who you are, but wouldn’t mind getting to know you.

“No, really, I’m sorry,” she chuckled.

What an adorable laugh.

“We talk on the on the phone all the time, but have never really met.” She put out her hand, “Zoe—Zoe Zimmerman from Channel 8.”

Wow, I had no idea you’d be quite this cute. He rose from his seat. “Zoe, well, what a pleasure.” He shook her hand, taking in her impish smile and bright green eyes. “Have a seat. After all these years, let me buy you the beer we always talked about.”

He’d been phone pals with this local television station—What the hell does she do there, anyway? —producer, reporter, assignment manager, jack-of-all-media-trades for more years than he could remember. Always pleasant, with a constant exuberance in her voice, he welcomed calls from her. Although information she needed, or he needed disseminated eventually got traded, more often than not their playful banter many times was laced with friendly, subtle sexual undertone.

“I’m sorry,” Zoe said. “I’m actually waiting for someone.” A chime sounded from the pocket of her fitted, navy blue blazer. “Oh, excuse me.” She turned a bit away from him, checking her cell.

At the same time, Eli’s phone rumbled on the bar top. He took a sip of beer and touched the screen. Your date, the text read. Eli glanced about the bar, curious if someone spied on him, or if this ethereal Madame Eve had covert operatives stationed in the bar.

But when a second text came with an attached photo of the woman standing next to him, a grin lit his face and he mentally high-fived his great fortune.

When he turned to take a peek at his now-date, Zoe’s big green eyes were wide with shock.

She fumbled for words. “There must be some mistake.”

New Release – Snowstorms and Second Chances

This summer, Hank Edwards and I discussed writing stories in a shared universe. He released his book Snowflakes and Song Lyrics on December 6th and my book Snowstorms and Second Chances just went live today!

Both Stories (2).jpg

These sweet and sexy holiday romances are available for purchase on Amazon or free to read with Kindle Unlimited.

Snowstorms and Second Chances Cover - Medium.jpg

Title: Snowstorms and Second Chances

Author Name: Brigham Vaughn

Universe: The Williamsville Inn

While both stories in this series are set in the same universe, each book features a different couple and can be read as a stand-alone.

Summary:

Erik Josef is a forty-three-year-old, recently divorced businessman with one goal: wrap up his last project of the year so he can spend the holidays in Tahiti. All he wants is drinks on a beach, served to him by a woman in a bikini.

While waiting at an airport bar for his business partner to fly into Buffalo, New York, he encounters Seth Cobb, a chatty travel writer waiting for a flight to Pittsburgh to visit his family.

After a huge snowstorm grounds all flights, a mix-up at the Williamsville Inn leads to Erik and Seth sharing a room. Seth’s love of Christmas gets on Erik’s last nerve, but a mugful of Seth’s hot chocolate slowly melts Erik’s icy exterior.

When Erik realizes he’s attracted to Seth, he must choose between the life he’s always known, or a new adventure with a man a decade younger and a second chance at happiness.

Excerpt:

“All joking aside, I guess we’ll have to hope that Christmas romance pans out for you after all,” Seth said a few minutes later.

“Guess so,” Erik said absently as he stared at the TV screen. He glanced at Seth. “For you too.”

“Thanks. Maybe that should have been my birthday wish last week.”

“You had a birthday last week?”

Seth nodded. “On the nineteenth. I spent it in Dresden. I was there to write a piece about the Striezelmarkt—the Christmas market—that’s been going on for over 600 years.”

“I’ve heard of those,” Erik said. “They’re all over Germany, right?”

“Yes. This is supposed to be one of the best though. There’s a carousel and the world’s biggest nutcracker. Plus, hundreds of booths filled with handmade crafts, pottery, candles, toys, wooden ornaments, and food. It’s incredible. Twinkling lights everywhere and the whole atmosphere feels festive.” By the end, Seth’s serious expression had melted away and was replaced by his now-familiar happy smile. He glowed when he talked about travel.

“It does sound incredible,” Erik agreed. “I can think of worse places to spend my birthday.”

“Oh, me too,” Seth agreed. “And I met a nice strapping German man by the name of Hans to celebrate it with. My German isn’t great, and his English was a bit broken, but we managed.” Seth gave him a little wink.

“I can’t say spending my birthday with Hans would be my choice,” Erik said drily. “But good for you.”

Seth shivered. “Is it just me or is it getting colder in here again?”

“It does seem like it.” Erik stood, then walked over to fiddle with the heater controls. “I’ll try cranking it up a little more.”

“I wonder if there are any extra blankets in the room?” Seth said as he walked past. He opened the closet doors. “Hmm. Nothing in here. Maybe in the dresser?”

“I didn’t notice anything when I put my clothes in there but check the bottom two drawers—I didn’t look in them. If you don’t find any blankets, I’ll have a talk with someone at the desk in the morning,” Erik said. He doubted a maintenance person was on hand twenty-four hours, especially in this weather.

“Or we could share body heat,” Seth said with a grin as he returned to his spot on the bed.

“Are you sure you didn’t get me liquored up so you could take advantage of me?” Erik asked, but he kept his voice light and teasing.

Seth shot him a dirty look. “No. Of course not. But the offer stands if you need it.”

“I’ll keep that in mind.” Erik grabbed his toiletry kit and a pair of pajamas out of the dresser. “I’m going to shower. Alone. And get ready for bed unless you need the bathroom before I head in there.”

“Nah, I’m good.”

Erik fled to the bathroom as if Seth’s offer to help him out was hot on his heels.

Title: Extra Dirty

Author Name: K. Evan Coles and Brigham Vaughn

Tagline: Love, served extra dirty.

Series: The Speakeasy, #2

While the stories in this series are connected, each book features a new couple and can be read as a stand-alone.

Summary:

Jesse Murtagh loves his life as a wealthy bisexual businessman dedicated to the pursuit of pleasure. With a circle of friends he trusts implicitly, he enjoys a successful career in his family’s business and as co-owner of Under, an uptown speakeasy, with his friend with benefits, Kyle McKee.

Music teacher and part-time DJ Cameron Lewis lives modestly in a DUMBO loft and isn’t interested in serious relationships. However, he’s always up for some casual fun.

Doing a favor for his friend Carter Hamilton, Jesse meets Cam and is immediately charmed. When Jesse discovers Cam’s other life as a DJ, he is further intrigued. Viewing Cam as a challenge, Jesse pulls out all the stops, but his usual methods to avoid serious relationships fail. Though Cam has no intention of becoming attached, he begins to fall for Jesse, unaware that Jesse’s feelings are changing.

Afraid of heartbreak, Cam pulls away, leaving Jesse bewildered and hurt. They remain friends until a series of misunderstandings widens the rift to breaking point. When Cam steps in to help Jesse through a family crisis, they realize they care for each other more than they’ve been willing to admit. Jesse and Cam don’t want a traditional relationship, but can they build a future that makes them both happy?

Reader advisory: This book contains scenes of mmm ménage as well as references to homophobia and recreational drug use.

New Release – The Ghosts Between Us

Somehow in the excitement of “The Ghosts Between Us” being released, I forgot to blog about it. Whoops?

But if you did miss the news, the book is now live on Amazon and available on KU/Kindle.

Ghosts Between Us Cover (1).jpg

Title: The Ghosts Between Us

Author Name: Brigham Vaughn

Tagline: From Loss, A New Beginning

Series: The West Hills (Book 1)

While the stories in this series are connected, each book features a new couple and can be read as a stand-alone.

Summary:

Dr. Christopher Allen knows how to deal with death. He’s a psychiatrist who works with hospice patients and their families, helping them cope with grief and letting go. But Chris’s job doesn’t prepare him for the sudden death of his devil-may-care brother Cal.

At Cal’s funeral, Chris is completely thrown when he meets Elliot Rawlings, an artist Cal has been dating. Chris is hurt to discover that the brother he knew as straight was actually bisexual. Elliot is angry and resentful of having been kept hidden from Cal’s family.

After the funeral, a night of drinking at the bar with Cal’s friends leads to Chris and Elliot falling into bed together.  The next morning, they’re overwhelmed by guilt and grief and agree to never speak of it again.

But Cal’s apartment needs to be packed up and Elliot reluctantly agrees to help Chris, as well as answer some questions about Cal’s life and their relationship. Despite their guilt and initial dislike for one another, they sort through the pieces of Cal’s life and begin to fall for each other.

Despite his best efforts to fix things, Chris’s family seems to be crumbling around him and he begins to question who he is and what his role with them is.  As his feelings for Elliot grow, Chris must decide if they’re worth further damaging his fragile relationships with his friends and family.

Elliot’s rough upbringing has left him distrustful of getting close to anyone, much less another man who isn’t willing to acknowledge him in public. The odds seem stacked against Chris and Elliot, but if they can overcome them, they may be able to lay Cal’s ghost to rest, along with their own demons.

Coming Soon – The Ghosts Between Us

If it feels like I’ve been teasing you with promises of this book for years, it’s because, well, I have. Somewhere about five years ago, the idea for it popped into my head. I jotted a few things down and then went on to work on other projects. Slowly, over that time, I’ve worked on the story. I did it in fits and starts as I struggled with it. First titled, “In Mourning” it slowly morphed into a massively long novel that explores grief, family, relationships, and love.

To be honest, it’s felt like a story I had to grow into. Both as an author and as a human. There were life experiences I needed to have along with writing skills I needed to develop. This story refused to be ready because I wasn’t ready.

But in a sudden burst of both inspiration and motivation, it came together. My beta readers returned it with some helpful suggestions for how to tweak and polish it, and a blog tour is being arranged.

I am truly excited to share this book with you–maybe more so than with any other book I’ve previously written–because I am so proud of it. I love the characters and I love the story and it was a real stretch for me as an author. I hope you’ll keep an eye out for it next month when it’s available because I know you’re going to love it as much as I do.

Corked is Live (Almost Everywhere)!

Corked Cover

Unfortunately, I had a few hiccups with my book release yesterday. WordPress didn’t seem to want to let me create a new blog post (grr). The books didn’t go live in time on Barnes & Noble and Kobo (still waiting on Kobo). But I’m still very excited to announce that “Corked” is available for sale!

Available Now

In my previous post, I talked a bit about how the three books in “The Wine Tasting Series” became “Corked” but I should also talk about how the “Corked” cover came to be. I live in Michigan and I’ve made several trips to the Traverse City area for wine tastings with friends, so this is an area (and subject!) near and dear to my heart.

As I usually do, I took oodles of photos when I was there. I unearthed those photos when I planned the cover of “Corked” and was delighted to find the perfect image for it. Can’t you just picture Sean and Lucas strolling through the vines and admiring the view?

Corked Vineyard

Summary:

Sean Powell is having a terrible day. When he walks into Bistro Argent, ready to unwind over a glass of wine with the sommelier, he’s stunned to discover his friend has been replaced by a hot young guy with big ideas. Lucas Spencer is determined to liven up the staid and stodgy wine list, but his brash approach alienates the wine distributor during their first meeting.

There’s no avoiding each other though and the more they butt heads, the hotter the tension between them gets. As they work together and their relationship progresses, they have to figure out how to blend their professional frustration and personal attraction without risking their careers.

Lucas is eleven years younger than Sean, and despite their sizzling chemistry and compatibility, Sean can’t quite believe the feelings are mutual. A wine tasting trip to Traverse City, Michigan threatens their fledgling relationship. Sean’s insecurities rise to the surface as Lucas’s fears of losing Sean lead to jealousy.

Does the relationship have legs or will they find out it’s corked?

Excerpt:

“I want to talk to Richard about setting up some classes at the restaurant, maybe on Sundays after brunch, kind of an ‘intro to wine’ type of thing explaining the different types of wine and how to properly taste them.”

“Sounds great,” Sean said and then added, “Hey, I meant to ask, did Richard respond to your earlier text?”

“Oh, I’m not sure,” Lucas replied, handing Sean the box containing the half case of wine they’d purchased. He fished in his pocket for the phone. He pulled it out, smiling at the photo of Sean in the vintage truck he’d set as his background before he noticed the text notification. “Looks like he did.”

“Oh, yeah? What did he say?” Sean asked.

Lucas nearly tripped getting on the trolley as he read Richard’s response.

What is wrong with you two? You think about fucking at work and work during your vacation instead of fucking. Stop thinking about my goddamn restaurant and go screw.

He was still laughing as they took their seats, and Sean had to wrestle the phone away from him to see the message. “Richard!” he exclaimed, his hand going to his forehead to rub at his temples. “Jesus, that man is incorrigible.”

“He’s your friend,” Lucas pointed out, still laughing as he took his phone back and replied to Richard.

“I don’t claim him!” Sean protested. “Besides, he’s your friend now, too.”

“Damn it,” Lucas muttered jokingly. “That’s what I get for dating you. Couldn’t you have brought something better to the relationship than Richard Brayden?”
